c. 1893, England
Anne Pratt (1806–1893) was a prominent English botanist and botanical illustrator, celebrated for her detailed and accessible plant illustrations. Despite being physically limited by a childhood illness, she became one of the most frolic botanical illustrators of the 19th century. Pratt authored over 20 books on botany, with her most famous work being The Flowering Plants, Grasses, and Ferns of Great Britain and Wild Flowers. Her illustrations, which were both scientifically accurate and aesthetically pleasing, helped popularize botany among the general public, particularly women and children.
