c. Mid 20th century
This is a vintage Indian advertising lithograph for “Gajraj Chhap Bidi”, a traditional bidi (hand-rolled cigarette) brand. The design features a packet of bidis illustrated at the center, with a bold elephant emblem (Gajraj symbolizing strength and auspiciousness) and prominent regional script typography.
The composition uses bright yellow, red, and blue tones, typical of mid-20th century commercial prints in India, combining utility with cultural motifs. Preserved in a frame, it now stands as a collectible example of vernacular advertising art and the history of Indian consumer culture.
